Review
DJ Pierre, or the Acid House Architect, is set to reissue his 1994 classic « What Is House Muzik? » on Get Physical Music to celebrate its 30th anniversary as a significant milestone, bridging three decades of electronic music evolution on an exclusive transparent vinyl, adorned by a cover from Emanuel Satie on Ricardo Villalobos epic 36-minutes track « What is Dub » and a stellar remix from South Africa’s Jazzuelle, first released in 2017.
The birth of Acid House music is often traced back to a serendipitous moment when Pierre, along with his group Phuture, stumbled upon the unique sounds of the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer, which experimentation led him to the creation of « Acid Tracks » in 1986, a creation not only defining the roots of Acid House, but also influencing the electronic music scene’s future. As an anecdote, according to DJ Pierre the ‘acid‘ in the title of the tape was a reference to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, which was popular in clubs back then.
On this reissue of « What Is House Muzik? » Dj Pierre is unveiling a delightful remastered version and more, and this unmissable piece of collection is expected to be released by mid-December.
